“I love the feel of clay in my hands and the places it takes me…”

Jane D’Haene’s works are inspired by the traditon of Korean ceramics and forms from the natural world.

She works on one of a kind, hand-built vessels and experiental and sculptural objects. Either wheel-thrown or hand-built, each piece is carefully and patiently crafted and her works are known as an unconventional play of clay combining traditional and contemporary methods.

D’Haene was born in South Korea and moved to NYC.

After attending Cooper Union for school of Architecture, D’Haene worked as an interior designer for 10 years and became a design director in the most prestigious firms in NYC.

After the birth of her daughter, D’Haene found a children’s clothing brand Anais & I.  After running the company for 7 successful years, D’Haene discovered ceramics in a small studio in Brooklyn NY.  As with her previous artistic endeavors, D’Haene passionately pursued and self-taught the technique and knowledge of ceramic arts.

She is also currently collaborating with artists and her husband, Francis D’Haene from D’Apostrophe Design developing one of kind home goods.

D’haene lives with her husband and three children in Brooklyn NY.
